/Problems we solve

Two partners. Two plans. One confused team.

When partners aren’t aligned, the team hears two versions of every priority and learns to wait, guess, or play one partner against the other. Getting partners aligned on how decisions get made is often the fastest fix in the business.

/01 · What it sounds like

You’ve probably said one of these.

  • “My partner and I keep pulling in different directions.”
  • “The team goes to whichever of us will say yes.”
  • “We agree in the meeting, then he does his own thing.”
  • “We haven’t had a real conversation about where this is going in years.”
/02 · Why it happens

Partners usually agree on the goal. They disagree on the path, and nobody said so out loud.

Partnerships drift. What made sense when there were eight people doesn’t work at forty. Roles blur, each partner builds a loyal group, and decisions get made twice or not at all.

Each partner thinks the team is following their plan. The team experiences two plans. That’s a leadership gap, and the team usually sees it long before the partners do.

/03 · How we work on it

Start with what the team sees.

The Leadership Gap Pulse asks the team whether the partners send the same message. That answer, read by an outside person, is often what finally starts the real conversation.

From there, the Intensive works with both partners on who decides what, how disagreements get settled, and how the team hears one message.

/04 · Something to try this week

Write down who decides what.

List the ten decisions that come up most. For each one, write which partner decides, or whether it takes both. Compare lists. The differences are your agenda.
